The First Product I Ever Made — and Why It's Still in My Handbag 20 Years Later

Some products have a story that goes beyond the formula. The Nourishing Lip Balm is mine.

Twenty years ago, I was working as a therapist and sales manager for Clarins — surrounded by some of the most beautiful skincare in the world. And yet, my lips were constantly dry and cracking. I'd tried every brand on the market, including the ones I was selling. Nothing worked. Not really.

So I made my own.

That first batch was poured into little aluminium tins, shared with family and friends, and made with the same intention it carries today — to actually solve the problem, not just sit prettily on a shelf. The formula has barely changed since. A little tweak here and there over two decades, but the heart of it remains the same: simple, botanical, and genuinely effective.

What's inside

Every ingredient earns its place:

  • Sweet Almond Oil — lightweight, skin-softening, and rich in fatty acids that melt into lip skin beautifully
  • Shea Butter & Cocoa Butter — the dream duo for deep, lasting moisture; together they create that signature buttery texture
  • Castor Oil — adds slip and gloss without stickiness
  • Olive Wax — a natural plant wax that gives the balm its smooth, firm body
  • Vitamin E & Sunflower Oil — nourishing and protective, helping to keep delicate lip skin healthy
  • Sweet Orange, Ylang Ylang & Lavender essential oils — the scent I fell in love with the moment I first blended it; warm, floral, and quietly comforting

No synthetic fragrances. No fillers. Just plants doing what they do best.

The packaging has changed. The love hasn't.

Those original tins are long gone. Today, the balm lives in a laser-engraved bamboo pot — engraved by my husband, right here at home. It's one of my favourite details about the brand. Something handmade, inside something handmade.

What our customers say

"It not only smells divine, it glides on beautifully. It looks and smells so expensive. So worth the money." — Alison J.

"I suffer from dry lips and Vaseline makes it worse. A little bit of this balm goes a long way and the soothing moisturiser lasts for ages." — Jo

"Lovely product, beautifully presented. Looking forward to trying more from this range." — Sue B.

How to use it

Apply whenever your lips need it throughout the day — after eating, before bed, or any moment in between. My favourite ritual? A generous layer before sleep as an overnight lip mask. You'll wake up to genuinely soft lips.

The Nourishing Lip Balm started because I couldn't find what I needed. Twenty years on, I'm still reaching for it every single day.
